Reinaldo Marcus Green’s short film, ‘Stone Cars’, has been selected by the The Cinéfondation of the world renowned Cannes Film Festival. Green’s film is one of 16 to make the list out of 1,631 entries submitted from throughout the globe.
Simply being nominated for the prestigious award is a huge honor and to have a Bronxite in the mix is something we can all be proud of.

Congratulations to Bronx Community College an its LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Program which just recently made the #1 program of its kind in the entire state of New York according to Practical Nursing.
Also worth mentioning is that Monroe College also made the top ten list and that NO OTHER NYC BOROUGH made it on that list!
Ok so the setting isn’t quite the Bronx but rather in tropical Miami, however, I thought this was a good Kickstarter campaign to promote especially since its executive producer, Ron Simons, produced the award winning ‘Gun Hill Road’ which was written by Bronxite, Rashaad Ernesto Green.
Besides that, it’s a story that many of our readers can relate to, regardless of which corner of the globe you hail from.
Emilio Guerra, Vice-President of Digital Content at Newsday, photographed every single Bronx landmark and the results are stunning.
One of the things I love about living in Melrose, besides its convenient location to Manhattan as well as a small town feel in what is considered the borough’s downtown area, is the plethora of community gardens.
Although we don’t have much as far as parks go in Melrose proper (that’s another story that we’ll expand upon shortly), we have approximately a whopping 17 community gardens (by my count at least, could be more).
Actually in this case it’s Bronx Pets of the Day. I met these three beautiful Siberian Huskies walking around Melrose yesterday and of course, being a proud owner of a Siberian Husky myself (or does she own me?), I had to take a picture.
MELROSE—A four alarm fire that started this morning around 5AM at a Dunkin’ Donuts quickly spread and destroyed five other businesses before the FDNY could get it under control. The blaze and…

Join Bronx Community College & Run The Bronx This May 3rd!
Bronx Community College (BCC)’s Run the Bronx race will be held on May 3. This annual event was founded in 1978 by former college president and Tuskegee Airman Dr. Roscoe C. Brown.
Now in its 36th year, the Run has become a signature event for the borough. And there’s so much more to the day than just a high-spirited, friendly competition. Run the Bronx promotes fitness and wellness, a crucial issue in a borough that has the highest rates of asthma, diabetes and obesity in our city. BCC would like to further expand the annual race to encourage healthier habits and lifestyles in our common community and turn around these alarming statistics.
Watch A 13 Year Old Poet From The Bronx Spit Fire!
April is National Poetry Month so I decided to search for poems on the Bronx. Instead of finding poems, the first thing I came across was this amazing 13 year old girl from the Bronx named Kioni Marshall aka Popcorn.
Check out these two amazing videos that were featured in the Daily News last year:
Bronx elected officials take LG fight to the courtroom in attempt to protect The Palisades – NY Daily News
This article in the Daily News clearly shows what a tale of two cities we are. Manhattan and Riverdale residents, along with elected officials are battling LG’s plan to build a 100+ foot tower in the Palisades that will tarnish the pristine views along the Hudson. Meanwhile in the South Bronx, residents are battling against the State of New York and FreshDirect, demanding that they deserve better than a 21 year old impact statement which the company is relying on to move into the neighborhood.
EXPANDING VIEWS: The Art of DANIEL HAUBEN at The Andrew Freedman Home
Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of receiving an invitation to Daniel Hauben’s opening reception at the Andrew Freedman home for his latest exhibition: Expanding Views: The Art of Daniel Hauben.
The exhibition is quite breathtaking as I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing his works up close. The paintings capture the essence of the Bronx so clearly that it is no wonder why Bronx Community College commissioned 22 paintings by Hauben for their new North Hall and Library.
