A new listing for a 1 bedroom is asking for a whopping $1,775/month for the privilege of living in this loft building which was one of the first in the area to convert to residential.
Another listing for a 2 bedroom loft in the same building is asking for $2,500.

Sources told Welcome2TheBronx that Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr and his staff made his way to Bruckner Bar and Grill today for a photo opportunity as part of damage control for his poor choice of words when describing Port Morris and Mott Haven.
“Right now, that area is dark, it’s dormant, it’s just a very morbid place,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr of the thriving Port Morris/Mott Haven area where FreshDirect wants to set-up shop during an interview on BronxTalk last night. He went on to say that FreshDirect would liven up an otherwise empty area.
Are we talking about the same area? The same area that was declared by NYC & Company — New York City’s official marketing and tourism agency — as one of the ‘Neighborhood x Neighborhood’ as a destination for tourists to explore outside of Manhattan?
Local residents and business owners are not only disappointed but also upset with Diaz Jr’s comments.

Over $2 billion has poured into the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx as well as adjacent areas in new construction — whether residential or new commercial — in less than 10 years easily out pacing the entire borough.
The bulk of the money has been centered in the many developments in Melrose such as La Terraza, Boricua College & North Rose Apartments, St Ann’s Terrace, Via Verde as well as the proposed 950 unit La Central Development which is currently estimated at $345 million.

Meanwhile in the South Bronx, residents are battling against the State of New York and FreshDirect, demanding that they deserve better than a 21 year old impact statement which the company is relying on to move into the neighborhood.
Yesterday, on Thursday, March 27th, the Appellate Division of New York ruled in favor of FreshDirect and, “Bloomberg-era Industrial Development Agency decision to provide $80 million in subsidies to Fresh Direct to move its trucking operation to a South Bronx waterfront flood zone…without any requirement to assess or address the environmental impact of an additional 1,500 daily diesel truck trips on our asthma-plagued community.”
