Banksy Strikes Melrose In The Bronx

Woke up today and my block is abuzz as Banksy left his latest mark in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx.

Walked down the block to see his latest piece which has the tag “Ghetto 4 Life” which I still don’t know how I feel about it, however, my friend and neighbor
Karah Shaffer says it’s lazy and the tag does a disservice to the neighborhood.

In doing so I usually stumble upon the beauty that is right in my neighborhood waiting to be discovered.

Groundbreaking Of Triangle Plaza Development at the Hub in Melrose

Directly across the street from the Opera House Hotel will rise a new mixed-use development that promises to bring 191 permanent jobs to the neighborhood along with 151 construction jobs.

Called Triangle Plaza Hub and once completed will house a campus for Metropolitan College, a Fine Fare supermarket as well as provide new retail opportunities for the area.

One of the many great things about living in Melrose is our abundance of community gardens which are a substitute for the lack of actual parks in the neighborhood.

No Vacancies At the Opera House Hotel This Past Weekend

Yesterday Patrick Wall of DNAinfo reported that the Opera House Hotel had no vacancies this weekend proving to one set of critics that folks will stay in the heart of the South Bronx in a luxury boutique hotel that may seemingly look out of place.

Unfortunately the article wasn’t full of good news as you would think considering such excellent news.

Massive Liquor Store Going Up On 149th Street

For several days I’ve been walking by this building under construction and wondering what it was going to be since it’s architecturally pleasing to the eye. It looked like perhaps a club or a bar of sorts but alas my hopes were dashed.
