After almost three years since it was announced, the mega project La Central has moved one step closer to reality as New York City Council approved this development yesterday.
With 992 units planned, a 50,000 square foot YMCA, 10,000 square foot television studio for BronxNet, and also an astronomy lab and observation deck among many other features, La Central is one of the biggest mixed residential and commercial developments coming to The Bronx.

In a report issued by real estate research site, PropertyShark, The Bronx has seen the highest increase in foreclosures in the second quarter of 2016 compared to the same time period last year—by 47%.
Leading the Bronx in foreclosures is the 10473 zip code encompassing the neighborhoods of Parkchester, Soundview, and Castle Hill with 24 new foreclosures listed totaling $3,034,143 with an average lien of $379,267.

New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and Public Advocate Letitia James have announced that they are forcing 8 slumlords to fix what is known as “the dirty dozen” buildings which collectively have 2,075 building code violations.
Eight of the twelve buildings are located in The Bronx with a total of 1,358 violations of which 750 Grand Concourse is the worst offender with a whopping 309 violations. Most of the buildings are located in the Northwest Bronx.
