Last November, 150,000 daffodil bulbs were planted at The New York Botanical Garden as part of their effort to create New York’s, “…most extensive display of daffodils,” spread across 4 acres and eventually totalling 1 million bulbs.

In the heart of El Barrio aka East Harlem is Capri Bakery on 116th between Lexington and 3rd Avenue since 1984.
Now, after working on opening their second location for over a year, Capri is open for business and is already a hit having only opened this past Thursday.
As I sit here eating a typical Cuban and Puerto Rican pastelito de guayaba con queso—guava filled pastry with cheese—and a nice warm cup of tea, dozens of people have come and gone happily after purchasing their fresh baked delights.
One thing The Bronx sorely lacks besides safe spaces for the LGBTQ community and its youth is a place for adults to mingle and call home. The Bronx lacks a single dedicated gay bar but tomorrow night at Lotus Flame Restaurant in Morris Park, get ready for a new event for our community.
Bronx Equality Night is billed as a social event and evening of networking for all genders and people of all sexual orientations with drink specials available to those of legal drinking age.
The event begins at 8PM which means you can take advantage of Lotus Flame’s full food menu until 11PM and then only bar food will be available from 11PM-Midnight.

Zaro’s Bakery was founded in The Bronx back in 1927 by Polish immigrant Joseph Zaro and in 1959, the iconic location at Parkchester was opened. For 56 years the store has been a favorite for generations of Bronxites and now the store is closing its doors for good.
The Bronx being one of the most ethnically diverse places in New York City means that it’s a recipe for great culinary delights.
At least that’s the way one Bronx chef, Kwame Onwuachi, who’s getting ready to open his own restaurant in Washington, DC sees it.

The South Bronx Farmers Market located at E 138th Street at Alexander Avenue right next to St. Jerome’s in Mott Haven, which started operating last year, has just been awarded United States Department of Agriculture grant of $40,717.13!
This is amazing and a testament to the hard work the community has put into making sure there is access to healthy foods in our neighborhood as well as connect our communities with our local farmers.
