Long Live The Bronx

Most outside of the great borough of the North still believe that The Bronx is a crime-ridden wasteland of empty lots, crack houses and burning buildings.  The truth of the matter is that we left that image a while back and we are in the middle of an unprecedented construction boom, particularly in the South Bronx.  Almost 34 years later after Howard Cossell declared that the “Bronx is burning” during the 1977 World Series, the Bronx IS burning…BURNING HOT as the former BoogieDowners, “ErLu” put it proclaiming to the world that we were rising from those ashes.

Welcome2TheBronx is here to continue putting the Bronx on the map of who we really are from the eyes of a Bronxite as well as other Bronxites.  There is so much to be proud of here in our great borough of the Bronx but let us also not be delusional; we still have a long path to walk to get to where we deserve to be.  We ousted corrupt state senator Pedro Espada but it doesn’t stop there.  We as citizens of the Bronx need to dismantle the Bronx political machine and remind our elected officials that government is FOR the PEOPLE BY the PEOPLE not the other way around.  We as citizens of the Bronx need to stop WAITING for elected officials to take care of our borough…we need to do this on a grassroots level.  We need to use our voting power just as we did when Pedro Espada went the way of the dodo.

Here’s to you, Bronxites and to all who love our borough…never forget your roots in this borough because if you made it here, you can definitely make it anywhere.
