The Bronx is Poetry! that is why I am beyond excited to announce an Open Mic and Chapter book release on April 24th , that will be held in the Bronx at the historical Andrew Freedman home located at 1125 Grand Concourse (Corner of McClellan street) from 7-10pm. Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of receiving an invitation to Daniel Hauben’s opening reception at the Andrew Freedman home for his latest exhibition: Expanding Views: The Art of Daniel Hauben.
The exhibition is quite breathtaking as I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing his works up close. The paintings capture the essence of the Bronx so clearly that it is no wonder why Bronx Community College commissioned 22 paintings by Hauben for their new North Hall and Library.

This past Saturday on March 22nd, the Puerto Rican Afro-Boricua rhythms of bomba echoed through the Andrew Freedman Home on the Grand Concourse — played and danced by both teenagers and senior citizens alike.
Tonight, Saturday March 22nd at 6pm the Andrew Freedman Home will be alive with the sound of traditional Puerto Rican Bomba music as the 141st anniversary of the abolition of slavery in Puerto Rico is commemorated.

At 2 a.m. Thursday, a weary Aaron Lazansky-Olivas spray-painted pastel yellows and greens onto wooden panels that would become an art installation at the Andrew Freedman Home in the Bronx.
Tomorrow at the historic Andrew Freedman Home, our culinary ambassador and New York Emmy Winner, Baron Ambrosia, will premier his movie, ‘The Baron Is Dead’ along with a concert by the legendary Grand Master Mele Mel.
It seems Banksy couldn’t resist the lure of the Bronx and came back to throw up on a wall across from Yankee Stadium this time a big cat (a cheetah?) with what appears to be tags adorning its body.
