Last year when we first got wind that The New York Botanical Garden was planning a Frida Kahlo exhibition we knew it was going to be big—but never imagined how big.

When we wrote about the show coming, a full year before it was scheduled to open, tens of thousands of people flooded our servers and shared our posts in excitement that this was happening and that it was happening in The Bronx.

Last Saturday the New York Botanical Garden was swarming with dozens of Frida Kahlo look alikes for the garden’s contest in celebration of her life as part of their current exhibition, Frida: Art, Garden, Life. (check out our gallery below!)

Now this Thursday the garden will be packed again with lookalikes but this time for the garden’s popular LGBT evenings as part of the Frida AL Fresco Evenings for adults!

Yesterday, we were treated to a special media preview for The New York Botanical Garden’s ‘Frida Kahlo: Art-Garden-Life’ exhibition—after 11 months of its announcement—and all that anticipation and build up was well worth the wait.

The Bronx Is Blooming At The New York Botanical Garden

This week I decided to take a quick trip to check out all the cherry blossoms and various trees, as well flowers that were blooming at The New York Botanical Garden and I surely wasn’t disappointed.

With weekend temps in the 60’s and mostly clear skies, it’s going to be a perfect time to head over to NYBG and enjoy the various areas of the garden, including Cherry Valley which is just exploding with beautiful blossoms.

It was my mother’s birthday so what better way to celebrate it than surrounded by the elegance of The Orchid Show: Chandeliers in the enchanting and historic Enid A. Haupt Conservatory during the magic of the night?

The Orchid Show Returns to The New York Botanical Garden

America’s “largest curated show featuring orchids” returns to the New York Botanical Garden for its 13th year at the historic Victorian-style Enid A. Haupt Conservatory — both a New York City landmark and a National one as well as the largest of its kind in the country — all right here in our beautiful Bronx.

The Orchid Show: Chandeliers runs from February 28th – April 19th with a special sneak preview for members on Friday, February 27th from 10am – 6pm.

The exhibition , is a departure from the previous exhibitions as this time the splendor of these plants aren’t just confined to the seasonal exhibition wing of the grand greenhouse but will also flow to the other main galleries of the building.
