What happens when you prescribe fruits, veggies and all sorts of produce to Bronxites who are overweight instead of pills? They lose weight. At least that’s what one innovative program is showing right here in The Bronx at Lincoln Hospital — one of four city hospitals to participate in the $15 million, 5 year program funded by a grant from the Tisch Fund.

This is the culmination of long journey and series of workshops led by Charlie Vázquez, Director of the Bronx Writers Center.

With our economy and society changing over the years, specifically with its downward spiral, we have seen these types of stories become a reality. I have witnessed these societal downfalls and have decided to take action through ethical civility and diplomacy.

Bronx Water Filtration Plant Now Costs Almost 4 Times Original Estimate of $1 Billion
The mess that has been dumped in The Bronx known as The Croton Water Treatment Plan in Van Cortlandt Park is just getting bigger and bigger.
It has, for the last 10 years, disrupted the lives of all who live in the surrounding communities through construction and broken promises from the Bloomberg administration. Now, what was once supposed to be a $1 billion project has ballooned to $3.7 billion at almost 4 times the original estimate the Daily News reports.

East Bronx Metro North Access Will Not Benefit All Residents If Fares Are Not Modified; Same With Proposed Ferry Service
There has been much talk that finally the East Bronx is on track to getting 4 new Metro North Stations (making for a total of 17 stations in The Bronx) bringing direct access into Manhattan as well as towards employment centers up north in Westchester County and Connecticut. While this is all great news for the county with the highest rate of reverse commuters in the nation, it does nothing for the majority who still work in Manhattan and will have to pay the current peak fare.
