Surprise! The Mix Coffehaus Is Still Open!

We received pleasant news that The Mix Coffehaus pop up has extended their stay at 55 Bruckner Boulevard in Port Morris!

Peter served up a wicked chai latte (my go to beverage when I find myself at a Starbucks and will say that Starbucks ain’t got nothing on these guys!). The best part was that I was able to get cozy and have a nice, long conversation with some friends.

But don’t wait too long for The Mix Coffehaus will only be open until the end of January and then it’s off to find a permanent space!

The Mix Pop Up Coffee Shop Opens In Port Morris With A Resounding Success

The Mix Pop Up Coffee Shop opened yesterday in Mott Haven as a 3 day social experiment to engage the community and talk about race and identity — over a cup of coffee.

Immediately when you walk into the cafe you are asked, ” WHAT ARE YOU?” by big stenciled letters along the walls. This is one of the most common questions asked to people of color, especially folks who’s ethnic identity isn’t ‘readily apparent’.

Legend Has It That Green Beer Was Invented In The Bronx On St Patrick’s Day in 1914!

As legend has it, green beer was invented in Melrose on 163rd Street near 3rd Avenue 100 years ago today just as our borough of the Bronx was born according to an article The Daily Meal by Editor, Joanna Fantozzi.

If the legend is true, then it is quite fitting as the Bronx is the unofficial Irish Capital of New York City!
