New Restaurant To Open On City Island is Set to Stand Out

This Friday, May 29th, Archie’s Tap & Table will open, where once Sugar & Spice Bake Shop and Eatery once stood on City Island, serving up comfort food with “an American twist” not to mention local Bronx beers.

After Sugar & Spice suffered damage from a fire in the apartment above last November, proprietor Alex Pertsovsky decided to retire the restaurant after a good 12 year run, which was begun with his sister Irina Brandler (who retired 5 years ago), and decided to dedicate himself to his dream of opening up something like Archie’s.

Best Pizza In The Bronx – NYC

Chris Crowley always gives us great write-ups on many of our favorite Bronx eateries but in this feature we woke up to, he enters the dangerous realm of Pizza. Favorites like Patricia’s, Louie & Ernie’s, & Emilio’s came up but Pugsley’s didn’t make it. Uh oh.

Bronxites love their pizza. We love our favorite pizzerias so much that we will defend them to the point that arguments will break out over which is the best. Which is your favorite?

Before Starbucks’ ‘Race Together’, There was The Mix Coffeehaus in The Bronx

Long before Starbucks announced their disastrous #RaceTogether campaign to foster race relations dialogue among its customers and baristas, there was The Mix Pop-Up Coffee Shop (now known as The Mix Coffehaus) in the Port Morris neighborhood The Bronx last year.

When Starbucks launched the campaign almost two weeks ago, Vernicia Colon, the brainchild behind the idea of the Mix Coffeehaus reached out to Welcome2TheBronx with concerns of how similar their campaign was to her project. “We were surprised to see such a large corporation like Starbucks implement what we felt was a very unique concept. It was brought to our attention by many of our followers that noticed similarities between Starbuck’s #RaceTogether campaign and The Mix Coffeehaus” said Colon
